Regional Environmental Education Center (RCEE) in Szczecin - Poland

The Regional Environmental Education Center (RCEE) in Szczecin was founded in January 1994 in virtue of National Environmental Education Center decision with the consent of Ministry of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry depending at the time on technical base of Municipal Technical Utility Works of National Foundation for Environmental Protection (Zakład Technicznych Usług Komunalnych - Narodowej Fundacji Ochrony Środowiska w Szczecinie (NFOŚ - ZTUK)).

RCEE is one of 21 similar centers working throughout entire country.

RCEE gathers around itself many institutions, organizations and single persons who care about expanding the environmental consciousness among our society.

There are teachers, students and scouts among them. Since January 1995 in our voivodship works (thanks to our attempts) Environmental Organizations Forum which includes 16 environmental NGOs. Forum activities are coordinated by RCEE.

In February of 1995 Rada Programowa (Program Council) was established.
The representatives of most environmental education and protection institutions of our voivodship take seats in Rada Programowa.
It helps to achieve good cooperation with those institutions.

Local media are also involved in our activities.
Residents of our voivodship get the opportunity to learn through them about our new projects and programs and it`s sponsors.
Time to time those stations give us a chance to carry on our own broadcast.

The aim of Regional Environmental Education Center (RCEE) in Szczecin is ecological education in broad sense.

Our main activity is youth and children education, sharing the ecological knowledge and enriching ecological counciousnes among people in any age.

At the beginning of our activity we started a library and information and consultation site.

In the city and voivodship only our library includes broad selection of environmental publications.
Any resident of our region can have the use of it freely.

Next step we are taking is expanding our information - consultation site followed by creating a computer data base.
The data base will regard environmental education.

We organize ecological workshops for students and children

We conduct training courses for teachers, administrative workers, local authoritiy members and many others.

Many of our projects and programs receive substantial and financial help form NFOŚ - ZTUK. Thanks to NFOŚ - ZTUK we which makes it`s office accessible to us , we have a strong technical, and scientifical backup.

We organized and co - organized many, various events such as training, seminars, conferences, competitions and exhibits - all of it gave us a chance to become recognizable in the environmental education market.

We coordinated number of worldwide known campaigns in our region such as:

"Clean up the world" ,
"Earth day",
"World`s Day of Environmental Protection"
"Ozone Campaign".

We coordinate regional network of ecological education. We are the forum for ecological organizations and people in our region.

We organized many training courses, seminars and conferences targeted for
local authorities representatives such as:
presidents, mayors and heads of gminas from our voivodship.

We co-organized V Polish Congress of City Cleaning.

We "opened" geothermal heating plant in Pyrzyce

We organize and conduct annual Ecological Knowledge Olympics (OWE) in zachodniopomorskie voivodship

We are managing and conducting the Ecological Library for zachodniopomorskie voivodship..

With help of ZTUK-NFOŚ in Szczecin from time to time we are able to announce ecological contests for all residents of zachodniopomorskie where people can win attractive prizes.
